1. The service

PDF Tools provides free online utilities for working with PDF and related document files. Most tools run entirely in your browser; some conversion features process files on our servers, as described in our Privacy Policy. The service is provided free of charge and is supported by advertising.

2. No account, no guarantee of availability

You do not need to register to use the service. We may add, change, suspend, or remove any tool at any time without notice, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. Individual tools may be disabled temporarily or permanently.

3. Your responsibilities

You agree that you will not:

• Upload or process any file that you do not own or otherwise have the legal right to process, including material protected by copyright, trade secret, or confidentiality obligations you would breach.
• Use the service to remove security protections from documents you are not authorised to access, or to circumvent technical protection measures unlawfully.
• Upload malware, or content that is unlawful, defamatory, or that infringes the rights of others.
• Attempt to overload, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to our infrastructure; scrape or automate the service at volumes that degrade it for others; or bypass any rate or size limit.
• Interfere with, obscure, or artificially interact with advertisements displayed on the site, including generating invalid ad traffic.

You are solely responsible for the content of the files you process and for keeping your own backups of any document before you use a tool on it.

4. Intellectual property

You retain all rights in the files you process. We claim no ownership or licence over your documents or their contents. The site itself — its name, design, text, and code — remains our property or that of our licensors, and the open-source components we use remain subject to their own licences.

5. Advertising and third-party links

The site displays advertisements supplied by third-party advertising networks and may contain links to third-party websites. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, products, or privacy practices of advertisers or linked sites. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are solely between you and that advertiser.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that any conversion or edit will preserve the exact layout, formatting, fonts, metadata, or fidelity of your original document, nor that output will be suitable for any particular purpose. Do not rely on this service as the only copy of, or the only processing step for, critical documents.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, nor for any loss of data, documents, profits, revenue, business, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the service — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid to use the service (which is normally zero) or USD 10. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

8. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms or from the files you chose to process using the service.

9. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. The revision date appears at the top of this page, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable at our principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts there have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
